4. Brief Introduction for 204Cu:

 

Generally, 204Cu annealed strength is somewhat greater than 304. The cold work hardening rate of these two grades is closely similar. Copper in the 204Cu reduces this cold work hardening rate from what it would be as a type 201 base analysis, while helping to improve corrosion resistance. 204Cu and 304 are non-magnetic in the annealed condition. In the cold worked condition, 204Cu may be less magnetic, which is very low for either alloys. 204Cu cold forms superior to 201, but similarly to 304 grade. Both alloys exhibit similar atmospheric and chemical corrosion resistance. At higher nickel levels the 204Cu purchase price should become increasingly attractive. 204Cu is very tough and ductile. It is a good substitute for 304 in many applications such as spring, belting, rope/cable, EPQ, nails, fasteners, and a variety of forming applications.
